It was a great pleasure and honour for PHALS to welcome a high-level delegation from the U.S. Embassy to the PHALS Soap Production Centre, implemented in collaboration with IOM, at Camp 20, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. The delegation included Ms. Belien Tadesse, Director, Office of Assistance Coordination; Ms. Jessica Doxtater, Disaster & Humanitarian Advisor for South and Central Asia; Ms. Farah Naz Lucky, Senior Rohingya and Disaster Response Specialist; and Ms. Sangita Patel, Assistant Refugee Coordinator, DHR/ACOORD. The delegation was accompanied by Ms. Ghulam Sarah Mohammed, Social Cohesion Manager, IOM; Mr. Ashik Kabir, LSD Coordinator; and Mr. Muhammad Adnan Hossain, Senior Monitoring and Reporting Associate, IOM. Later, CIC Mr. Hossain Mohammed Al-Muzahid of Camp 20 and Camp 20 Extension joined the delegation and reaffirmed his continued cooperation and support for PHALS since the beginning of this initiative. During the visit, the delegates observed the soap production process, interacted with members of the production team, and learned about the initiative, its implementation, and its contribution to local livelihoods and community engagement. PHALS sincerely appreciates the delegation's visit, interest, encouragement, and continued engagement. Such collaboration highlights the importance of local leadership, community participation, social cohesion, skills development, and sustainable livelihood opportunities in humanitarian response. We are especially grateful to FCDO for providing PHALS with the opportunity and support to serve people in need and contribute to meaningful, community-based solutions. PHALS remains committed to working closely with its partners to strengthen locally led initiatives and create meaningful opportunities for both Rohingya refugees and host communities. Together, we can turn humanitarian support into sustainable opportunities.
